Privacy
Localhost Radar collects nothing and sends nothing anywhere. It has no account, no analytics and no server of its own.
Localhost Radar is a Chrome extension with a helper program you install yourself, both made by Slow Signal Labs. This page says exactly what each one touches.
what it reads, on your computer only
- Which TCP ports are listening. For the processes you own, it also reads their name, command line, working folder, start time, parent processes, CPU and memory use, and a few environment variables that coding tools set (for example
CLAUDECODEorCODEX_THREAD_ID). That is how it works out which tool started a server. - The project name and git branch, from files in those folders such as
package.jsonand.git/HEAD. - The home page of each server on
localhost, for its status code, title and icon. - The address and title of your open tabs on
localhost, to match them to servers.
The helper reads this only when the extension asks, hands it over and keeps nothing. The extension shows it to you and keeps the latest result in memory until the browser closes.
what it stores
In your browser's extension storage, on this device only:
- your settings
- the names, pins and hidden flags you give servers
- a list of servers that stopped in the last 24 hours
You can clear the last two in Settings. Removing the extension removes all of it.
what it sends
Nothing. Radar has no crash reporting, and it connects only to its helper on your computer and to servers on localhost. It never contacts Slow Signal Labs or anyone else.
what it changes
Nothing, unless you press Stop. Then the helper ends the processes it showed you, after checking each one is still the same process. Notifications appear only if you turn them on.
